Marita Liulia has ventured to seventy countries and feels that water is her element. Therefore the paintings on display at the Marine exhibition, to be opened on June 30th at Gallery Vanha Kappalaisentalo in Porvoo, will be dedicated to the sea.

The multidisciplinary modern artist Marita Liulia has had her works performed in fifty countries. The artistic production includes paintings, photographs, short films, theatre and dance performances, multimedia works, radio plays and books. Liulia is a pioneer of media art. In recent years she has concentrated on paintings and photograps.

The highlights of Liulias career as an artist, which started in the beginning of 1980s, are the private exhibitions at the Finnish National Gallery Kiasma, the Amos Anderson Art Museum, the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, the National Museum Bangkok in Thailand, the Conde Duque in Madrid and the Neumünster Abbey in Luxemburg as well as the latest exhibitions at the Serlachius Museum (2017), the Didrichsen Art Museum (2019) and the Spiral Wacoal Art Center, Japan, (2019, 2022). She has had performances (approx. 300) e.g. at the Finnish National Opera, the Milia Cannes, the Venice Biennale, the Centre Pompidou and the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Joyce Theater in New York and the J.F.
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.

Her works are e.g. in the collections of the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation, the Finnish National Gallery Kiasma as well as in the collections of Pori Art Museum and the Vaasa City Art Gallery. Liulia, who has won several international awards, received the Pro Finlandia Medal in 2018.

This summer Liulias works will be seen also at two extensive private exhibitions: ”Nature Forte” at Laukon kartano and ”Traveloque” at Gumbostrand Konst & Form in Sipoo.
