In the aesthetics of everyday life, a place can mean a meaningful space created through recognition, rituals, and repetition. It is built from ordinary, seemingly trivial events in a space charged with a certain significance. The place is tied to emotional meaning through everyday actions, thoughts, and associations. The place is also where I am now. A red dot. Position in life, in society, and in the family. A place where I am with myself. A place at home. Home is a place within me that radiates into the space I have established. It flows from my fingertips to the objects and surfaces I touch.

Ano Kurki (b.1990) graduated from the Free Art School. They live and work in Helsinki and study aesthetics at the University of Helsinki. They work with ink on Japanese paper and recycled cotton, which is hand-dyed using materials found at home. The still life studies reflect Kurki’s everyday life and identity as a queer, non-binary artist.
