In an era marked by uncertainty and change, the concept of home—once a symbol of safety and stability—has become increasingly complex. ”The Room Gets Small When You Stay Still” explores the shifting perceptions of personal space, questioning whether having a safe and secure place to call your own is truly an obvious right in today’s world.

Through a small-scale audiovisual project based on 16mm film projection, this work invites you to reflect on the fragility of the spaces we inhabit. Both film and the spaces that we live in possess a similar vulnerability. The project challenges the notion that home is merely a physical structure, urging us to consider the emotional, psychological, and social dimensions of what it means to feel secure. As the world around us grows ever more unpredictable, this project asks: Can we ever truly stand still when the ground beneath us is constantly shifting?

Welcome to a journey that examines the tension between the comfort of stillness and the necessity of movement in the pursuit of safety and belonging.
