Porvoo Jazz Club: Jaska Lukkarinen Trio

On the stage of the Porvoo Jazz Club, we will see the Jaska Lukkarinen Trio’s new concert ”Textures,” featuring music composed by drummer/composer Mikko Hassinen. The compositions allow for the use of various tonal colors of the drum set within the saxophone-bass-drums ensemble. The musical color palette is partly related to Lukkarinen’s artistic doctoral research. The concert strongly emphasizes the creation, maintenance, and release of musical energy. The internal interaction of the band changes in the absence of a piano, guitar, or similar harmonic instrument, challenging the drummer to take greater responsibility for the overall sound and tonal color of the group.
