Album release gig at Porvoo Jazz Club!
Teosto-awarded percussionist Mikko Hassinen returns to the world of small ensemble music inspired by his youthful and talented band, and will take the stage at Porvoo Jazz Club this autumn. The wide and layered brass orchestration painted by the previous Espoo Big Band: Blood Red album, which received five stars from Helsingin Sanomat, transforms into an intimate and focused vibration of a small collective in the music of Future Food Factory, where acoustic jazz is layered with an electronic element.

The music from the debut album, which will be released in September, will hit clubs and concerts immediately starting from the autumn, and Porvoo Jazz Club has the honor of being the album release gig!
Future Food Factory is an album where its composer Mikko Hassinen seeks to musically describe his complex relationship with nature. The music is fundamentally acoustic and breathing, but despite the principle of acoustics, the album has a touch of electricity. Many songs have received layers different from traditional quartet jazz in the post-production phase. Recorded material has been altered and processed. What started acoustically on the album turns into something else along the way.

”He has made a vast career as a drummer, conductor, composer, arranger, and producer. His musical spectrum ranges from acoustic jazz through world music to the most modern electronic expression.”
• Jazzliiton Yrjö Award jury
”Hassinen’s bold and unapologetic work captivates its listeners. This versatile work is full of rich musical ideas that virtuosic musicians have been able to realize.”
• Teosto Award jury for the album Elektro GT
”Percussionist Mikko Hassinen’s composed and arranged Blood Red, the latest commission – a multi-layered style sample of the precise craftsman and one of the best in Hassinen’s own production.”
