SOS Children’s Village’s Granny and Grandpa’s Cottage will continue its activities in new premises starting Tuesday, April 8. Our new activity space is Gammelbacka Youth Center Kertsi (Keskusaukio 1). Granny and Grandpa’s Cottage is a warm meeting place where local families with children, volunteer substitute grannies and grandpas, and SOS Children’s Village cottage leaders gather for a joint evening every Tuesday from 4 PM to 7 PM (excluding Tuesday, April 15).
On Tuesday, April 15, from 4 PM to 7 PM, Granny and Grandpa’s Cottage will be at Gammelbacka playground. Come and meet other families with children, learn more about our activities, and enjoy picnic treats. Welcome!
At the cottage, we play, read, craft, chat over coffee, and eat a warm meal together around the same table. Children get new playmates and company from substitute grannies and grandpas, giving adults a chance to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage is open to all families with children, and all activities are voluntary and free of charge. Children are always under the responsibility of their own adults at the cottage.
When you come to the cottage for the first time, please let us know by sending a message to number 044 760 8490. You can reach us best on Tuesday afternoons. More information about the activities is also provided by SOS Children’s Village’s southern preventive work area manager Malla Kosunen (tel. 044 493 4189 / malla.kosunen@sos-lapsikyla.fi). Welcome!
We are also looking for elderly people, i.e., substitute grannies and grandpas, to do meaningful volunteer work for the benefit of families with children. You can participate in the activities according to your own resources once a week or less frequently, and you will become part of SOS Children’s Village’s wide volunteer community that covers all of Finland. Ask for more information! Malla Kosunen (tel. 044 493 4189 / malla.kosunen@sos-lapsikyla.fi).
