Ideas made real

The vote on participatory budgeting is closed. As a result of the vote, the City of Porvoo will implement 11 ideas during this year. The total cost estimate for implementing the ideas is 49 900 euros.

• Benches in Kokonniemi (5000€) – 226 votes
• Artificial turf-covered field for Hamarin koulu (10 000€) – 212 votes
• Outdoor movie nights for the whole family (15 000€) – 206 votes
• BENCHES (5000€) – 204 votes
• Library to offer puzzles for borrowing (1000€) – 201 votes

What service or thing would you like to see for the joy and benefit of Porvoo residents? Propose an idea and vote for your favourite to be implemented by the City of Porvoo in 2025. In the third participatory budgeting process in Porvoo, €50,000 will be used to implement ideas. The budget can be divided among multiple ideas.

Participatory budgeting means that residents are closely involved in planning and deciding on matters related to the economy and resources and developing city services together. Last year, nine proposals were voted for implementation, mostly carried out in the summer of 2024.

The schedule for this year’s participatory budgeting is the same as last year. At the beginning of the year, Porvoo residents, summer residents, and those interested in Porvoo can propose ideas for implementation. After that, the ideas will be evaluated, modified, and combined for voting in March. The ideas that receive the most votes will be implemented during the spring, summer, and autumn.

During the ideation phase, you can freely brainstorm. The goal of the ideation phase is to find as many suggestions as possible for ideas that would make Porvoo an even better city for all of us.

To proceed to the voting phase, ideas must meet all evaluation criteria.

The name of the person submitting the idea will not be published with the idea. Contact information can be provided so that the evaluation team can request additional information if needed.

The evaluation team will review all proposed ideas. Ideas will be combined and refined for the final vote. A preliminary cost estimate and possible implementation schedule will be calculated for the ideas. Ideas that do not meet all evaluation criteria will be eliminated at this stage. The evaluation team consists of city experts and representatives from the elderly and disabled councils and the youth council.

There were 106 proposals that did not go to the vote.

Everyone can vote once by choosing ideas to be implemented within a total of 50,000 euros. There is a calculator showing how much it costs to implement selected ideas. You can vote on as many proposals as it is possible to implement with an appropriation of 50,000 euros. The voting link is ordered from the voting page to your own email address.

The ideas that receive the most votes will move to the implementation phase. After the voting ends, the voting results can be viewed on the voting page.

You can vote by submitting a paper form in either Porvoo City Library or in Porvoo-Info, Lundinkatu 8.

The ideas to be implemented will be selected based on the number of votes and the available budget. The ideas will be implemented during 2025.
